The Joys of Housesitting

I am experiencing my first house sitting experience this week. On top of a crazy weekend with the wedding in BC (which--by the way--was lovely) and all, it was a little hairy even getting out there on Sunday, but I managed it. Granted, I wasn't suppose to be dog sitting until Thursday, but ended up with the dog all week. I don't really have any words of wisdom to share when it comes to Housesitting, but I thought I would give you some new things I have learned about myself through this housesitting experience ---please note, this is only Wednesday and I have to house sit for the rest of the week.

1. I am not the dog person I thought I was - always thought I wanted a dog in the house, now I am not so sure. Xena is a sweet dog, I am just not used to a dog following me all over the house. She is so tiny she is hard to see, so I am always afraid I will step on her.

2. Flowers are nice but a lot of work - for those of you that don't know Darrell & Sue's yard - let's just say it's a small garden that needs a LOT of attention.

3. Houses that are not my own have strange noises

4. Dogs will always come in the house 10 minutes after you have had them outside and have a "accident" on the floor - Xena has done this to me several times this week. For a little dog, she can make a BIG mess!

5. I rely on my computer WAY too much!! - They have a Mac at their house and I know NOTHING about MACs. Plus there is password protectors so I can't check my e-mail. NO Sims, No Life, No Clue, no basic web surfing - I am too spoiled at home.

6. If you leave a dog home for too many hours by herself, she will hyper ventilate when you come home - notice a lot of these have to do with a dog.

However - it has been fun spending some time in Midland again. I went shopping on Tuesday and painted pottery in the afternoon. Today I am back at home hanging out with Mikayla, but tomorrow I am hoping to get to my favorite Midland library and hopefully not get big fines. Meanwhile, pray for Xena --I think she is not used to be so little spoiled. The poor puppy been stuck with me all week!
