O Christmas Tree

Saturday I took part in one of my favorite Christmas pastimes, Christmas tree shopping. I am a sucker for Christmas trees, I always have been. Until I have broke out my Christmas music, put up my manger, and put up and decorated my tree - it isn't really Christmas for me.

My adventure Saturday was quite fun. First I went to Mom and Dad's to raid their Christmas lights and get all of my ornaments (Adam's too). Then Dad and I went to our traditional tree buying grounds. After getting the description and prices we started walking through. The first tree we looked seriously at was a pretty Blue Spruce and even though we glanced at a few more, I knew it was my tree. After the guy strapped it to the roof of the van for us (I was tree shopping with a one armed man afterall) we took it back to Mom & Dad's where I assisted in cutting the tree and getting it ready to put in a stand (I have never had that privilege before.) I also was in charge of getting it off the van which you can imagine was an adventure. Then we strapped it to the back of my little grand am (so Dad didn't have to lift it) and dad followed me to my house while I anxiously watched the tree continue to slip off my spoiler in the back of my car. We finally got it into my house and standing up, dad helped me string the lights (again, an adventure with a one armed man) and then left me to decorate.

Well in true Ramseyer tree fashion, within 2 hours of putting the tree up, I noticed it was horribly tripping forward. Adam confirmed my prognosis and we attempted to fix it. No luck though. So for 3 days, I have lived in fear of the tree being on the floor when I come home and Mom's beautiful angel from the top of the tree in two pieces. Luckily "Sprucey" (yes, I have gotten sick enough to name my tree) survived and after a 10 minute adventure with dad tonight we were able to finally get it straightened out (although I will be picking needles out of my hair for the next week).

Bet you never thought a Christmas tree adventure could last this long.

Yesterday I made up a song for Sprucey on the way home from work (I was bored, it's a long drive).

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree
O please don't fall down Christmas tree
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree
Please don't fall down Christmas tree
Your lights so bright, your ornaments rare
O please don't crash cause I would care
O Christmas tree, O Christmas
Do not fall down, O Christmas Tree.

If I had my camera hooked up to my computer, I would send you a picture of Sprucey, but for now your imagination will have to do.

You are hilarous. I'm here in Phoenix with my five piece manager scene sitting on a plaid placemat and am so excited that I finally decorated for Christmas.

You always were the Christmas tree girl. :-)

PS - I love the song! Now it's going to be stuck in my head all day.

Tree off the car, I should really read things before I post them.
