Back to life...Back to reality

Okay, I don't know any more words to that song expect that part, but it was going through my head over and over again this morning on the way to work.

Actually it started yesterday when I literally bumped into our assistant superintendent when we took Adam out for his birthday. Reality bites by the way.

So, I have a headache - noise did me in....and my throat hurts...lots of yelling today...and I told my kids that when they went home tonight they need to pull their listening ears back out of their beds where they left them and pin them back to their heads so they work tomorrow.

Then I set myself into giggles by attempting to practice walking up and down mom and dad's hallway in the bridesmaid dress I am wearing on Sunday. Since I have to walk in first, if I fall can everyone after me just step over top of me?

Gotta keep this short - I have two weeks of laundry to do!! Too bad I can't enjoy the beautiful 68 degree day!

Ahhh, Spring Break....

I am thoroughly enjoying my spring break this week. The sunshine of Arizona....the peace and quiet of no 1st graders in sight....ahhhh....life is good!

I am not thinking about my pink slip this week, I am not thinking about my masters classes this week, and I am not thinking about what I need to do for the last weeks of school ----I am just enjoying the sunshine, peace, & quiet.

I think every job should have a spring break week.

I am wonder woman

Oh the things you can do when your trying to break in shoes for a wedding. So far I have....

1. Done 2 loads of laundry - 2 more to go

2. Vacuumed my house

3. Cleaned the dreaded bathroom (whoops - towels -more laundry)

4. Boiled 2 dozen eggs for dying.

5. Started packing for AZ

6. Stripped the sheets off Adam's and my bed (hence some of the laundry)

and my other jobs yet tonight....

7. Finish making my Easter cookies when Mom delivers the cookie cutters (which I forgot I didn't have when I started making the cookies)

8. Finish packing for AZ

9. Finish the laundry

10. Watch Lost (when, I really don't know)

11. Dust in my spare moments

12. Remake the beds

13. Sleep - at some point or another

yup - and I am doing all of this while walking around the house in the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever worn in my life. I look pretty silly too, good thing no one is here to take a picture.

I am wonder woman!

ohhh.... 6b to add to the already done point - take away precious moments to blog!

Things that should come with warning labels

1. Peanut M&M's ----- may be addictive

2. Students ----won't talk when you need them to, won't shut up when you need them to.

3. Cutesy Movie ---- the awwww factor might make you cry

4. Shoes for a wedding ---- you may never walk again after wearing these

5. A new book ----- do not purchase if you want to go to bed within the next 4 hours

6. TV shows ----- we are going to hook up two characters you don't like together, so don't bother watching. (or in the case of Alias - we are going to kill off the character that was the only reason you started watching the show in the 1st place!!!)

7. Alarm Clocks - when you turn me off, I don't wake you up

8. Spiders - we can move like no ones business when you are trying to squash us

9. Computers - we work when we feel like, don't work when you need us to work the most

10. Parents - we will fly off the handle without warning (as Mark Lowry says, parents should come with a light red light that goes off 10 seconds before ENOUGH!)

more to come.....

So, I got my official pink slip...

So, I got my official pink slip on Monday (which, by the way, is not even pink). The whole process took an entire 2 minutes and then I went back to teaching my kids. However, it has spurred me to become a bit of a rebel. I took a half day today so I could avoid a staff meeting taking place at the building our students are suppose to be moving to. Why? Because A) the majority of our students aren't really going there and B) It's not my job to sell parents on sending their child to that particular school and C) I am just not in the mood!

Chances of me getting called back - Pretty good, I am in the top 50 of those laid off.

Chance of me trying to get a new job elsewhere - Even higher. I am ready for a change.

For some reason a song called I'm alright has been going through my head since Monday. The chorus goes something like this (from my head, not quoted directly)

...Because I'm alright. Troubles may find me but there not going to bring me down.
Cause I'll hold on tight to the Father who loves me, He likes having me around
Cause He loves me and He cares for me and so I'll be...Alright.

The SEA (Saginaw Education Association -AKA our union that I pay outrageous dues to) sent out an e-mail asking teachers district wide to where pink or red on Friday in support of all the teachers being laid off. Should make for an interesting day.
