Another bites the dust..
Yes I have returned from yet another weekend wedding where I sadly sing "another bites the dust." Seriously I am happy for all my friends getting married, but when is it going to end! Every time my young group friends get married, I make an effort to make new friends and then they go and get married! I have lost track of how many weddings I have been to in the past 5 years.
Here is my dilemma - I am horrible at saying something sweet and not redundant when going through the reception line. This is the reason why I hate going to weddings. I feel that I sound stupid. My only hope is that the bride and groom greet some many people that they quickly forget whatever I said. What do you say when going thru a reception line? Something trite like "Congratulations, I pray that the Lord will bless you in your new life together." I find myself saying something very similar to new members after their baptism. I just don't have any profound words of wisdom to share with a new couple. If anyone has any for me, I would deeply appreciate them.
"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife." Opening line of Pride and Prejudice.

I would totally not take those first two pieces of advice. In fact it has nothing to do with the question at hand. But you have a great blog and they are going to book mark you!!!!
I know how you feel though...I hardly ever say anything. Of course I'm not one to really say much of anything unless I feel comfortable...so usually I only shake their hand...and often times only nod. I'm horrible at that kinda stuff.

Yup me too. I'm better at funerals than I am at weddings. I tell the bride she looks pretty and tell the groom that he's a lucky dog, and you think YOUR response is trite?? :)

Okay we tie.
I might just start to boycott weddings. Do they really know that I was there anyway with the scads of other people?

Skipping weddings has been my policy for years. Join me on the dark side.

Yup, I avoid weddings like the plague. And yeah, it's hard for me to believe that on one of the most stressful days of someone's life they remember every single person who came through their line and said something lame like, "You look pretty." Especially at a freaking huge wedding like Jeff's. He was so overwhelmed that I'm not even sure if he noticed that I was there, and I'm his sister.
